Our Prayers are with her family…
Phi Mu at Auburn University lost a sister today. Libbie Ainsworth, sophomore Phi Mu, and her boyfriend, Auburn football player Drew Cole, were in a bad car wreck Sunday. He came out with injuries but overall he was ok, Libbie was placed in ICU and passed this morning. Please say a prayer for the Ainsworth family, the Auburn Family, and the sisters of Phi Mu.

#5: Pearls
The one thing every sorority girl should have is a nice set of pearls!!! Pearls could very well be the prettiest and classiest accessory you can own! They look great no matter what the occasion! Many of our sororities use pearls in our membership pins and have special significance to our houses.

#4: Headbands
One of the accessories every sorority girl has (and often has many of) is the headband. Decorated with anything from feathers and bows to sequins and ribbon flowers, this accessory can go with nearly any outfit for any occasion! They can easily transition from being worn with your outfit for class to your outfit for going out (and then you don’t have to worry about getting that kink out of your hair!). One thing to note is even though headbands are totes adorbs, if you get the wrong ones (those nasty, pinchy, metal ones) you will have a terrible headache all day.

#3: Move-In Day
While moving your things up several flights of stairs sounds less than appealing, move-in day is a time of year we all look forward to. After three long months of not seeing our sorority sisters on a regular basis, we can finally trade stories on how interesting our summers were! Move-in day can be a great opportunity to bond with the sister or sisters you will be rooming with (celebratory fro-yo, anyone?). It is also a reminder that rush is on its way!!! The actual moving is terrible (hopefully that cute fratstar you’ve had your eyes on will help you move the heavier boxes!), but seeing all of your sisters and getting ready for the new year (and new pledges!) is totes worth it!

#2: Lilly Pulitzer
If there is one thing that every sorority girl loves and craves, it is Lilly Pulitzer! With so many colorful prints and dress styles, you are bound to find a dress that looks great on you! As if that weren’t enough of an excuse to shop, Lilly Pulitzer has its sorority collection! Every fall Lilly unveils new prints comprised of our beloved letters and symbols! What better way to show off our letters than a cute Lilly print tote bag! Congrats to Alpha Delta Pi, Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Chi Omega on winning the Greek Chic Sorority Contest (I can’t wait to see what the prints look like!)!

Shop this season’s sorority prints? You bet I did!
If you haven’t already, check out the new site and prints! Totes presh!

#1: Abbreviations
If you text, Facebook message, or talk to a sorority girl you will likely hear a string of abbreviations. Many of them will be confusing if not accustomed to using and hearing them. Some abbreviations and words mean something completely different to a sorority girl, for example: pc means pledge class (not politically correct) and totes means totally (not a conveniently sized bag or container). We also love abbreviating the names of sororities and fraternities! Delta Delta Delta: TriDelt, Delta Gamma: DG, Pi Beta Phi: PiPhi, Kappa Kappa Gamma: Kappa, the list goes on! Your cute dress is totes adorbs. Someone not in the Greek community is a GDI. I will not bore you with a long list of abbreviations, you either know them or you don’t (and if you don’t and aren’t Greek, knowing them is practically useless). There is no conclusive reason as to why we use and love abbreviations; maybe it’s our ability to communicate more quickly or that the girls in our houses use them. Whatever the reason, we will continue to use them in our daily lives!
